Her heart pounded in time to her feet hitting the pavement. Her eyes scanned the darkened street corner. She knew what had to be done, but my, how she didn’t want to do it.
Plump drops of rain began to fall. She pulled her jacket tightly around herself. She finally saw him approaching. Hat pulled down over his eyes, his collar turned up.
He came to a stop near her, his face turned away from her.
“Did you bring it?” He asked her.
She slowly raised her eyes to meet his and nodded. She handed him the envelope.
“I’ll make sure it gets done.” He said.
She nodded, and slipped quietly back into the darkness of the night.
